The Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCV) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan organization incorporated in 2000 to build the effectiveness and power of Maryland's environmental movement. We are dedicated to maximizing the participation of conservation-minded voters in public policy decisions made at the state and local levels regarding Maryland's environment and natural resources. Our programs strengthen and build the power of the environmental community, and they expand, deepen, and activate a base of conservation-minded voters around the state.

Bay Funding Passed in Special Session
Tuesday, November 20, 2007

In the early morning hours of Monday November 19, the General Assembly passed a tax package, the shining piece of which was the inclusion of $50 million in dedicated funding to clean up the Chesapeake Bay, known as the Chesapeake Bay 2010 Trust Fund. The policy on how to spend the money adopted by the House did not pass the Senate, but we are hopeful that this forward-thinking policy will pass in the regular session that begins on January 9, 2008.
